Atomic Number 118     Mass number of the Isotope Made (293)

This element was made at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory with their 88-Inch Cyclotron by bombarding a lead-208 target with very high-energy krypton-86 ions.  Element 118 atoms decay immediately to element 116 atoms with a mass number of 289, which then decay into element 114 atoms with a mass number of 285. The discovery of these elements was announced on June 7, 1999.
