Atomic Number 114     Mass number of the Isotope Made (285)

This element forms in a decay series that starts with element 118 with a mass number of 293. Element 118 was made at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory with their 88-Inch Cyclotron by bombarding a lead-208 target with very high-energy krypton-86 ions.  Atoms of element 118 decay into atoms of element 116 with a mass number of 289, which then decay into element 114 atoms with a mass number of 285. The discovery of these elements was announced on June 7, 1999.
