Chemistry 10 Exam Information

    Exam 1 covers the glossary terms and the black numbered problems for the key ideas and chapter problems for Sections 1.4, 1.5, 3.1-3.5, and 4.1. The following tells you which problems are possible and which are not. I have included the red numbered problems so you'll know which problems you want to work for practice.

    Sections 1.4 and 1.5: The exam will not include problems 1, 14, 17-20 and 48 in Chapter 1.

    Sections 3.1-3.5: The exam will not include problems 3-7, 38-42, 50-57 and 83-96 in Chapter 3. It will include the glossary terms through "diatomic". I am not going to ask you to memorize the names and symbols for elements. If you need to know them I will give them to you on the exam. I will give you the names and symbols for the elements mentioned in any problem for which you need them. This will apply to all of the chapters.

    Section 4.1: The first exam will cover the glossary terms through "wavelength", Key Ideas 4-20, and problems 62-74.

    Exam 2 covers the glossary terms, key ideas, and chapter problems for

    Sections 4.2 & 4.3: The second exam will cover the glossary terms waveform to electron configuration, Key Ideas 26-50 and 53-58, and problems 79-88, 96, 97, 99, 105(a,b), 106(a,b), 107(a,b), 108(a,b), 109, and 110(a,b). You will only be asked to write electron configurations and orbital diagrams for the first 18 elements...hydrogen through argon.

    Sections 5.1-5.5 and 5.7: The exam will include the glossary terms compound through isomers. The exam will not include problems 44-54, 62, 108, 111, 112, and 115-128.

    Section 6.3: You will not be tested on 4-9, 20-52, 65-144. I am not going to ask you to convert between compound names and chemical formulas. If you need to know them I will give them to you on the exam. Know the glossary terms from hydronium ion through completion reaction.

    Exam 3 covers the glossary terms, key ideas, and chapter problems for

    Sections 7.1-7.3: The exam will not include problems 8-10, 37-42, 54-63, and 72-109 in Chapter 7. All glossary terms are possible for the exam.

    Sections 8.1-8.3: The exam will not include problems 2, 3, 5-7, 11, 24-28, 44-82 in Chapter 8. Know the glossary terms from Arrhenius base through neutralization reaction.

    Sections 9.1, 9.3, & 9.4: The exam will not include problems 1-3, 12, 13, 36-54, 59, 60, 63-92, 95-105 in Chapter 9. Know all of the glossary terms for Chapter 9.

    Chapter 16: The exam will not include 1-13, 39, 40, 62, 70, 73, 76-85, 94-97, 118-126, and 141-181. Know all of the glossary terms for Chapter 16.
